The IMN Blog
The majority of people in the UK own or would like to own a house - unlike our European counterparts owning rather then renting our forever home is a dream for most!
But the dream for first time buyers will be a little a bit harder to achieve from March. From the 24th stamp duty exemption on properties under 250 thousand will come to an end. This means in practical terms that for people buying a house for 131 thousand pounds they will have to pay around one and a half thousand pounds in tax...
Parents: now might be a good time to sit down... I'm sorry to report that the overall cost of raising a child has increased by 3.3% in a year.
I'm in the studio with Fi Star-Stone, childcare expert and editor of childcareisfun.co.uk, and Mark Jones from LV=. The new LV= Cost of a Child report reveals quite frightening figures; we know having kids is expensive, but exactly how much are we looking at? A staggering £218,000! That's £30 a day. Ouch.
What does this mean for British families? Well...

So this week I asked the IMN Team:
If you had your own radio show, what would it be about?
Here's what we had to say - enjoy!
Phil
If I had my own radio programme it would be a cross between a music show and an interview-style programme that I’m calling The Ultimate Mixtape. I’ve taken my inspiration from Desert Island Disks! Whoever my guest was (let’s say Beyonce or Brad Pitt – I don’t aim low!) they would have to go through every decade from the 50’s to today and pick 2 songs that sum up...
I'm in studio this morning talking with the lovely people from Direct Debit about how a new survey shows not having enough in the bank to pay the bills is keeping more of us awake at night than worrying about losing our jobs, problems with our relationships or even the state of our health!
Research by Bacs, the people behind Direct Debit has provided a real insight in to the Nation's biggest worries for the year ahead, revealing a particularly bleak outlook for 2012 as over a third of us are...

How much do you aim to save every year? Im in studio this morning with the lovely Phil Sheehy Head of Savings at NatWest and RBS. The NatWest Savings Index 2012 shows an interesting insight into the savings habits of the nation - broken down by region, gender and age.
Whilst women outnumber men in the savings game - I was surprised to see that men are ambitious and save more! They aim for just under 10 thousand pounds which is almost double that of their female counterparts. Differences in...
Today Chris, Jay, Dan and I are dipping our toes in the world of Outside Broadcast - an IMN first!
We're here and all set up in our pop up radio studio (at a time when even the birds aren't awake yet) waiting for our very first interview to dial in. Even at 7am in the morning the atmosphere is buzzing - the stalls are set up, remote control cars are bumping ankles in the halls, hand controlled helicopters are whizzing by, inflatable Darleks are making their entrance and a giant Playmobile...

I'm in the studio with Sital Patel, a technology expert from One.com - as a 'can do' nation, over half of us dream about becoming our own boss, but one in five don't think we have the technical know-how to start such a venture. But, as I'm discovering this morning, it's not that difficult!
Sital's top tips for those of us who are at a technical disadvantage; get online, get familiar with your PC and laptop, go down to your local library and see if they're offering any classes, ask family and...
Every day I'm woken up by the sound of my phone buzzing to inform me of the best daily deal on a fish pedicure, a fantastic meal out or even this mornings offer - a bungee jump off tower bridge. And on my way to work I find myself thinking, should I buy it and if I don't, what will I miss out on?!
Well psychologists have dubbed this FOMO (fear of missing out) and I'm joined in the studio by Peter Briffett, MD of Living Social who's explaining the psychology behind the latest craze of group...
