A limited supply of a new vaccine for the prevention of shingles is now available to patients on private prescription. I'm in the studio with Dr Robert Johnson, Consultant in Pain Medicine, and Marian Nicholson, Director of the Shingles Support Society. One in four Brits will develop shingles at some point in their lifetime, so this awareness campaign is hugely relevant to us all! The risk of getting the disease is higher for those aged 50+, but younger people can be at risk - especially if...

Did you know last year almost 3 million people were the victim of an accident what wasn't their fault? I'm in studio this morning talking with the lovely Rob Bhol about the imminent changes to the No Win No Fee System which will affect many of those who have had accidents. Claim Today Solicitors is accusing David Cameron of robbing millions of people of their right to justice as the Government goes through the final stages of abolishing the 'no win no fee' legal system. The government argues...

Once upon a time ago, little children across the land were allowed to exercise their imaginations by entering the realms of fantasy & fairytale... ...But new research commissioned to mark the launch of the hit US drama GRIMM suggests that these traditional stories, and arguably timeless tales, are being ditched by parents on the basis of the underlying dark themes. 45% of mothers and fathers refuse to read Rumplestiltskin to their little ones, fearing themes of kidnapping and execution aren...

Valentine's Day is less than a week away... men across the country are having mild panic attacks, fretting about what gifts to buy! But fear not, gents, there are simple and effective ways to charm the ladies in your life... I'm in the studio with Tracey Kay, a professional online shopping expert (and cupid!) from Figleaves.com. If you're looking to spoil your loved one (and not spoil Valentine's Day!), we suggest buying some nice lingerie. Flowers, chocolates, and champagne won't be sniffed at...

Even though we live in a world that puts huge importance on good looks a new survey shows parents feel growing up learning good social and communication skills is more important to a child's development than being good or looking or even being good with money! The survey commissioned by Openreach and I CAN, the children's communication charity, shows nearly two thirds of Mums and Dads think their children will struggle to become successful adults if they can't interact properly. Openreach and...

I'm in the studio with TV vet Emma Milne & Christina Tellefsen, a Veterinary Technical Adviser... the research Merial sponsored with The University of Bristol shows that there's been a fourfold increase in the prevalence of Lyme disease in the UK. What is Lyme disease? Well, it's a rather nasty number that transfers from animals to humans and causes chronic joint pain, depression and even impaired memory. Something best avoided, methinks. This increase in Lyme disease has sparked serious...

Shockingly new research has shown that one in nine people in the UK have to choose between heating and eating during the cold winter months and many feel they can't leave their homes as they haven't adequate warm clothing. With forecasts predicting snow this weekend the situation the harsh reality of this struggle for vulnerable is only expected to worsen. The research by Elizabeth Finn Care shows families are particularly feeling the pinch with 15% of those surveyed having to go without new...

This week I asked the IMN team to think about their favourite news story throughout January. Enjoy! Phil My favourite news story this month has to be the Ed Miliband ‘Blackbusters’ story. One of his ministers, Diane Abbott, used Twitter to claim that white people ‘love to divide and rule’ black people. She was accused of being racist and apologised. Ed Miliband was asked by lots of people to sack her but instead chose to stand by her. The next day, sadly, 80’s TV legend and host of...

This morning I'm very lucky to be sat in the studio with Rob Edmond, the trainer from The Biggest Loser along with Juliette Kellow and Denise Armstrong. We're all getting whipped into shape ahead of Valentine's Day - and its the small lifestyle changes that make the biggest differences. Walking up the escalator, talking the stairs instead of the lift, doing a few push ups when you get out of bed.... We waste £37 million on unused gym memberships a year, so it sounds to me as if its about time...

The popularity of price comparison websites has left many of us reliant upon these to make our decisions when buying anything from mortgages to insurance. But are we sacrificing getting the right deal for us by being too focused on price? We're joined in the studio today with Ben Heffer from Defaqto who's telling us what we should be looking out for and who we can trust....
