The IMN Blog
We're talking about the importance of making time for breakfast in studio today.
Did you know that one in three parents admit that breakfast isn't part of their daily routine....despite research showing that those who have it in the morning are happier, thinner and less stressed than people who skip it!
It's the launch of the 13th annual Farmhouse Breakfast Week which aims to help people "Shake Up their Wake Up" and enjoy the benefits of a healthy breakfast.
There are events happening...
Work From Home Week kicks off on Monday; I'm in the studio with Steve Petrie from Tooway.com talking about the benefits of home working. Not only can we save money on travel, spare ourselves an unpleasant commute, work in our PJs (...oh, just me then?)... but there is also evidence that our economy could be given a much needed boost, with entrepreneurs & their own home-run businesses to thank for regenerating rural economies.
But what about those home-worker-wannabes in rural areas? Despite...

I'm in studio today this morning with leading children's communication charity ICan. Shocking new research shows that as a result of the recession three quarters of parents have had to take on extra work instead of spending time with their family.
The report by ICan and Openreach shows 71% of parents spend 60 minutes or less chatting with their child everyday - with one in ten (10%) only speaking to their child for 15 minutes!
Now in it's 11th year, the Chatterbox Challenge 2012 aims to...
I'm in studio today with the lovely SImon Boydell from Retail Eyes talking about mystery shopping and the importance of the customer experience.
As the Freedom of Information Act reveals a year and a half absence in mystery shopping in the financial services industry - sector experts are questioning why nothing has been done to protect consumers in this lucrative field. There are well over 20 thousand mystery shopping visits a month in the retail sector alone so today we're talking about why...
Every week I'm going to be collecting blogs from the team about radio news, radio secrets, our thoughts on the industry and revealing the answers on our blog.
So this week, to kick us off, I've asked:
'What's your favourite radio show, and why?'
Here are the answers... enjoy.
Phil
My favourite radio programme would have to be The XFM Breakfast Show with Danny Wallace. It’s a much cooler version of what Chris Moyles does on Radio 1. I think they get the balance between chat and talk just about...
In studio talking about the important issues of Atrial Fibrillation and Deep Vein Thrombosis today. AF is the most common sustained cardiac rhythm disorder and affects around 750,000 people in the UK. Alarmingly, people with AF are at a five fold increased risk for stroke and it is a major cause of the 150,000 strokes in the UK every year!
DVF is the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein that partially or totally blocks the flow of blood. In the UK, it's estimated that one in every 1,000...
In studio today with the lovely people from Pfizer talking about how to use the support of your GP to help you successfully quit smoking for good this New Year. It comes as new research shows that an astonishing one in ten parents admit to raiding their child's piggy bank to get money to buy cigarettes!
Two thirds of UK smokers, the equivalent of 6 million people, will try and quit this month but by going it on their own - half will fail within just one week. Although nicotine is similar and...
We love a party at IMN, and there's no better party than an SRA party.
Simon and us girls were there in full force to support Student Radio and meet the broadcast stars of tomorrow - as well as having a drink or three.
Highlights of the night included meeting Westwood and Mistajam, as well as Daisy throwing some epic shapes on the dance floor.
Here's looking forward to next year, but think we could do without the hangover.....
So we had a delightful studio session this morning with the very glamorous (despite her claims of putting her make up on in the taxi... I didn't believe her) Jenny Frost and the very lovely Pete the Vet talking about a brand new awareness campaign getting pet owners to Spot the Signs of cat pain.
Now, until very recently I had a cat as part of my family who I grew up with all my life - my Dad used to refer to him as the son he never had - and it really worries me that these loved feline...

Tomorrow (13th OCtober) is World Sight Day, and we're in the studio with the very lovely and glamorous Jemma Kidd and Krishani from the blindness charity ORBIS.
We're talking about Jemma's recent trip to Ethiopia and what ORBIS are doing to try and combat preventable blindness in developing and third world countries - research has shown that 80% of blindness could be reversed or prevented if people just had access to clean sanitation and antibiotics.
Jemma is incredibly passionate about this...
