The Stamp Duty Holiday is almost over!

Posted by Jennifer on 27 January 2012

The majority of people in the UK own or would like to own a house - unlike our European counterparts owning rather then renting our forever home is a dream for most!

But the dream for first time buyers will be a little a bit harder to achieve from March. From the 24th stamp duty exemption on properties under 250 thousand will come to an end. This means in practical terms that for people buying a house for 131 thousand pounds they will have to pay around one and a half thousand pounds in tax.

I'm in studio with the lovely Stephen Mitcham CEO of the Cambridge Building Society talking about what this means for first time buyer, giving some great advice to those trying to complete before the 24th March and giving reassurance to those who may be buying after it!

With lots of options out there for first time buyers if you want some advice try logging onto www.cambridgebs.co.uk.
