People are being held hostage in their own homes due to Freezing Temperatures

Posted by Jennifer on 3 February 2012

Shockingly new research has shown that one in nine people in the UK have to choose between heating and eating during the cold winter months and many feel they can't leave their homes as they haven't adequate warm clothing. With forecasts predicting snow this weekend the situation the harsh reality of this struggle for vulnerable is only expected to worsen.

The research by Elizabeth Finn Care shows families are particularly feeling the pinch with 15% of those surveyed having to go without new clothing for themselves so they could afford to provide it for their children.

18% of people say they're unsure of where to get help - so Elizabeth Finn Care has launched a fundraising drive to help! Their "Wrap Up Against Poverty" Campaign sees the likes of Helen Mirren, Sir Richard Branson and Sienna Miller donating their winter clothing and accessories for an online auction.

If you'd like to help this great cause log onto www.elizabethfinncare.org.uk and click on the Wrap Up Poverty tab to get donating and hopefully win some celeb clothes!
