Women's Car Insurance To Rise By Up To £2,000

Women drivers could expect to pay up to £2,000 more for their car insurance come December as a change in EU law sees new ‘unisex rates’ come into play.

The new report, which analyses 10 million quotes over the past 20 months, reveals that men are currently shelling out almost double the amount paid by women – an average difference of £315 (41%).

It’s predicted that the introduction of equalised rates, to higher male prices, will hit young female drivers the hardest, with potential increases of £2,000 compared with an average of £300.

So as the findings of the ‘Gender Watch’ study highlight the astonishing disparity between current premiums, we are asking whether women are prepared for this gap to close?
