New research, investigating what Brits are afraid of, has revealed how we’re a nation of thrill seekers when it comes to things that go bump in the night; over a fifth (21%) say they’re entertained by being scared or exhilarated, and one in six (15%) enjoy being frightened or scared with family and friends. Digging deeper into our fear factor, men have admitted they are more scared of their mother-in-law (13%) than their boss (9%), horror films (12%) and even Olympic security threats (7%)!

When it comes to ghosts and ghouls, a third (33%) of us would even spend the night in a haunted house if it meant a week off work. And with one in six (15%) even dabbling in scary stories for fun, it seems as if Brits really are fascinated with the supernatural.
