  News Hooks:

The title of the world’s fastest pizza maker has been awarded to a man from the UK who managed to make three large pizzas in 39.1 seconds, setting a new world record in the process.

Pali Grewal is the first non-USA winner since the competition started in 1982 and had to compete against contestants all over the world, as far away as Malaysia. He had to make the three pizzas in front of 6,000 spectators in Las Vegas under the scrutiny of the judges.

This record follows a cultural fascination for food records. The world's largest sandwich recently weighed in at nearly 2.5 tonnes; the largest omelette was almost 3 tonnes and when it comes to speedy eating; 6 bananas were consumed in 1 minute, yet, records involving food skills are the records that seem to capture our imagination.
