There’s a new debate this morning; is online entertainment pulling families apart, or is it making us closer?

And behind it all is research that’s been published showing 1 in 10 parents think their children would turn to the internet instead of them when it comes to getting answers to their questions – although 93% of mums and dads are more optimistic, claiming their kids haven’t been ‘totally lost’ to the online world just yet.

In fact, parents are admitting their own dependence on the web, with nearly half of Brits (48%) confessing they’d be lost if they weren’t online.

But, with over one in ten Brits relying on the internet for entertaining their children and family (12%), today’s technology can also be described as the glue holding the family unit together. With nearly eight in ten Brits making a keen effort to sit together to watch TV and films - proving that there is still a need for traditional family values.

. Introduction:

Research out today has sparked a new topic of debate – and we’re here to discuss and explore the implications of our ever-evolving technology.

As research confirms that children may be turning to the internet for advice rather than their parents, a negative perception of modern technology may be understood and even forgiven. However, on the flipside, the realms of the digital age are clearly connecting the family unit with 78% of families sitting together to enjoy the multitude of TV and film offered online.

With over half of us relying on the internet for entertainment purposes, some of us would even admit to spending more time using it than doing our housework or reading!

So, is online entertainment bringing us closer or pulling us apart?
