It’s no longer territory reserved exclusively for students and bohemian types - research out today has revealed the number of people leaving the country to backpack is now well over 500 thousand.

Evidence suggests that the concept of the ‘gap year’ is spreading amongst ‘career breakers’ (90,000) and ‘young retirees’ (200,000), who have been inspired by the younger generation to explore the world and try new experiences.
