  News Hooks:

Today, the ONS are releasing brand new figures on divorce rates in the UK.

Looking back to 2010 - statistics revealed that, for the sixth consecutive year, the amount of divorces in our country was on the decline; numbers were actually the lowest we have seen since 1974. The figures also showed that those in their late twenties had the highest divorce rate for the fifth year in a row, and that it is more common for women to divorce at a younger age, but for men to divorce over the age of 40.

What will this year’s figures reveal? Will divorce rates rise for the first time in six years? Or are we set for the seventh year of decline?

We’ve been looking at the top reasons for marriages ending; the number one reason for divorce has been cited as falling out of love or growing apart (27%), followed by infidelity (25%). Other common circumstances include one partner having a mid life crisis, unreasonable behaviour and financial worries.
