New research out today reveals that nine out of ten Brits are guilty of energy crimes. These crimes, including leaving the heating on overnight and the hot water whilst on holiday, are costing consumers £5.6 billion a year, an average of £214.92 wasted per household.

86% of people confessed to committing such energy crimes, with more than half admitting that it’s because they simply forget.

Young people are the worst offenders as more than two-thirds of 18-24 year olds don’t even know how to programme their heating, compared to 47% overall.
