Energy prices have doubled over the last 5 years. Consumers now owe an estimated £624m to energy suppliers and nearly 5 million homes are in debt to energy suppliers.

The government are backing a scheme to encourage homes to install solar panels, which will not only benefit the environment (British homes produce a massive 27% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions) but also has the potential to cut electricity bills by a third.

The search for Britain’s Greenest Home is being launched from March 23rd, and two of Britain’s best loved weather forecasters have joined forces to find the household which is making the most effort to use energy efficiently.

British homes produce a massive 27% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions and with energy prices on the rise; the government’s scheme to encourage homes to install solar panels has the potential to benefit the environment and the nation’s pockets.
