This week the Make a Wish Foundation reached the landmark milestone of granting their 7000th wish to Marcus, a 15 year old boy suffering from a brain tumour. In their 25 years of existence, the charity has granted the wishes of 7000 children with life threatening illnesses ranging from cancer to heart conditions.

In the UK there are 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with life threatening illnesses. This year alone, 1,200 children will turn to Make-a-Wish to have their dreams become reality. Make a Wish aims to not only give these seriously ill children the experience of their wish coming true, but also provide the families with what can often be the last happy memory they have of their child having fun surrounded by family and friends.

The top four wishes asked for are a trip to Disneyland, a new computer, a family holiday and swimming with dolphins, with more unusual wishes including to be the Prime Minister, to meet sonic and to star in a film. To make these dreams a reality, the charity hopes to aim £5.5million and hopes to be granting 85 wishes a month by the end of 2012.
