There are over 10,000 charities in the UK, most of which are local charities serving local communities, which often have a low profile and a lack of awareness. To coincide with their rebrand of hundreds of Abbey and Bradford & Bingley branches, Santander are launching an initiative to give a share of £250,000 to local charities that are voted for by local people.
Santander has launched a new charity scheme to celebrate the rebrand of Abbey and Bradford & Bingley to Santander, which will see £250,000 donated to local charities. The bank is asking its UK customers in each branch to decide which charity should benefit in their local area.
The scheme will allow customers to support local charities by voting every time they visit their branch. The aim is to strengthen relationships within communities and help to raise the profile of charitable organisations making a difference in local areas.
Every branch has nominated three local causes and customers visiting their branch up until 26 February are encouraged to vote for their favourite with the winning charities receiving a share of the £250,000 Community Chest.
But just how can we support local charities in our area?
