Twelve medals in the bag, a celebration of 50 years of independence and a sports team that has attracted more attention than any other of its kind in history.

This summer has firmly put Jamaica on the map and with Grenada winning their first ever medal and Trinidad taking home a gold too – the Caribbean has been the talk on everyone’s lips.

However this small cluster of islands hasn’t been just a hot topic of conversation, Brits have embraced Caribbean culture with open arms and the popularity of their cuisine has increased drastically.

In fact there has been a 20% increase over the past year alone and with recent exposure of the Islands only set to boost this, today marks the start of the UK’s first ever ‘Caribbean Food Week.’

Jamaican colours have been splashed all over our screens this summer, with such massive sporting success and medals bagged by many of this small cluster of Islands. And it appears this has led Brits to embrace all things Caribbean – from culture to cuisine. And with the UK’s first ever ‘Caribbean Food Week’ being launched today, dishes like jerk chicken, curried goat and salt fish are all high on the menu!
