  News Hooks:

Research reveals those who have it in the morning are happier, thinner and less stressed than people who skip it. With the average person spending 8.3 minutes doing it and 20% saying they don’t have time for it at all, how do you compare with the rest of the nation? Yes, it’s breakfast we’re talking about - what were you thinking?!

One in three parents admit that breakfast isn’t part of their daily routine, despite confessing they struggle to get through the day without it. Mums are suffering more than anyone, with a fifth admitting they don’t always have time to eat in the morning. Not tending to their own needs is costing them their concentration, health and wellbeing.

Today sees the launch of the Breakfast Week Challenge, taking place during Farmhouse Breakfast Week, an established campaign running for thirteen years, designed to help people to shake up their wakeup and enjoy the benefits of a healthy breakfast. The message is being shared at events countrywide and The Ultimate Breakfast Guide offers a selection of tasty, easy brekkie suggestions designed to give you the best start to the day. If this year’s resolution was to drop a few pounds- maybe you should consider adding breakfast to your day as its shown those fitting in the morning fibre are less likely to be overweight.

. Introduction:

If someone said you could feel more satisfied throughout the day, just by finding a few extra minutes in the morning- would you be interested?

We are of course talking about making sure you eat breakfast- something which a shockingly high number of us aren’t doing. Busy lives and longer hours at work are causing more of us than ever to skip the first meal of the day- sacrificing our health and wellbeing. People who include breakfast in their routine are proven to be slimmer, happier and perform better at work.

So how can those who skip breakfast find a way to include it, and why does it leave people so satisfied?

Joining us to discuss this further is nutritionist and journalist Angela Dowden who is supporting Farmhouse Breakfast Week’s ‘Shake Up Your Wake Up’ campaign - organised by HGCA which is part of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board
