Football Fans Suffer as Premiership Ticket Prices Continue to Soar

New research reveals that only 3% of football fans intend to watch this year’s Premier League matches live at the ground, with more than one in four fans admitting that going to football games is a luxury they cannot afford because of the impact of the recession.

74% of fans will watch the matches from home this year, with over a third of supporters saying the price of match tickets are too expensive when added to travel costs and nearly a third admitting that travelling to their team’s away games is too costly.

The average Premiership adult ticket price has risen by 8.9% in five seasons with the average price of going to a live game reaching £85. Many fans are also hitting out at the increase in the number of clubs launching a new home shirt every season.
