A massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake has struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti leaving many dead or homeless. US President Barack Obama has vowed "full support" to the people of Haiti to help recover from its devastating earthquake while the children's charity Save the Children are launching an appeal to help save the children and families at serious risk of illness by getting life-saving supplies into the country amid very difficult conditions.
A national appeal for Haiti was launched last night and Save the Children’s emergency response is now underway in Haiti following the earthquake that has seen thousands of families forced onto the streets in urgent need of clean water, shelter and medical assistance.
Save the Children’s Emergency Director has classified the event as a major disaster and are expecting the number of casualties to rise significantly. They have stated that it is crucial that help happens quickly for the thousands of children and their parents who are living in dangerous conditions on the streets.
How can people in the UK help the most vulnerable people of Haiti in the aftermath of this international tragedy?
