. Introduction:

As we enter the winter season the weather begins to change. Freezing temperatures, strong winds and central heating battle against our skin causing it to dry out, crack and even allow more serious skin conditions to develop. The skin does have a natural defensive quality that guards against this sort of weathering but with constant exposure to irritants in our modern lives much of it is stripped away leaving us exposed. In an attempt to revitalise and build upon this natural protection there have been developments for skin care in the form of Shielding lotions. These shielding lotions combine with the outer layers of the skin (stratum corneum) and dead skin cells to create an invisable and protective hydrating shield keeping harmful toxins out and rejuvenating moisture and oils in.

Winter time is tough for skin as freezing temperatures, strong winds and central heating battle against its ability to do what its supposed to do.

Up until 100 years ago our skin was protected by a natural defence to withstand the turmoil of the winter conditions but in today’s world the irritants we come into daily contact with have greatly reduced this capacity.

Shielding lotions combine with the outer layers of the skin (stratum corneum) and dead skin cells to create an invisable and protective hydrating ‘Shield’ that helps to keep harmful toxins out and rejuvenating moisture and oils in, naturally leaving skin with a youthful glow.
