. Introduction:

This indoor allergy week, it seems allergies are on the up with experts predicting the 21st century to be the highest ever. Half of the population now suffer from an allergy and there have been alarming numbers of hospital admissions from asthma attacks. Fuelling these irritations are the chemicals that we are exposed to, in particular the high levels of toxins found in most paints. Concerning findings state we could be putting ourselves and children at risk simply through the VOC’s found in domestic paints.

Recent figures revealed that there are an increasing number of allergies in the UK and it is now estimated that 50% of the population are sufferers.

Further to this, asthma continues to be an issue with latest figures reporting an annual number of asthma attack hospital admissions in the UK at over 80,000 and more than 40% of these were for children under the age of 15.

It has been found that the levels of toxins in most paints are harmful causing irritation of allergies and asthma, especially in young children. In particular, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) which have also been linked to cancer.

So how can we make sure we are safe in our home this indoor allergy week?
