. Introduction:

Christmas is a time when travel often can’t be avoided with many of us having family connections overseas or just wanting a festive break. 3 million of us headed overseas last year but when we fly, only 70% of our time is spent just waiting. Delays and queues, especially at airports this time of year, can take away from the spirit of the festive season. This year more of us will be looking for convenient and speedy ways to reach our festive destination in 2009.

Christmas travel is often unavoidable and last year 3 million Brits took to the skies over the festive period, carrying an estimated £727 million worth of presents.

This month one of the world’s busiest airports has announced 1% growth, defying the general 17% decrease in overseas travel. The second half of December typically sees an additional 30% increase
but delays and queues can ruin the spirit of the occasion.
When travelling by air, only 30% of the total journey time is actually spent in the air. The remaining
70% is spent waiting.

What options are there available to reduce queuing times when travelling this Christmas?
