New research shows that the majority of adults in the UK are unaware of the vast number of people affected by high cholesterol, with just 8% of people recognising that if affects 2 out of 3 adults. 8/10 Brits underestimate just how many people high cholesterol actually affects.

The likelihood of having high cholesterol increases with age, yet a third of those between the ages of 45-54 have never had their cholesterol tested. Women are more in the know than men when it comes to understanding cholesterol levels. Although men are catching up with the women, as this gap in knowledge between the sexes has reduced from previous years.

High cholesterol increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD); the biggest killer in the UK. CVD includes conditions such as atherosclerosis, angina, heart attack and stroke.

With just two months to go until Christmas festivities, new research shows that adults in the UK are unaware of the vast number of people affected by high cholesterol. Women have come out on top when it comes to cholesterol knowledge, despite men bridging the gap compared to previous years.
