New research released today reveals 65% of teens are better at multi-tasking than their parents, with the average teen regularly doing three things at once.

Whilst eating, 54% of teenagers can be found watching TV, 50% listening to music, 44% surfing the net and 22% of teenagers admitted to doing their homework as they eat. With technological multi-tasking becoming an everyday part of young people’s lives, research reveals one in ten (10%) teenagers can do four things at once.

The average age that teenagers reach their multi-tasking prowess is at 14 years old, with teenage boys at this age proving to be the best at doing more than one thing at once.

Challenging the age old myth that women are notoriously better at doing more than one thing at once, it seems red-haired 14-year-old Gemini boys from Newcastle come out on top at multi-tasking. New research released today reveals the average teen regularly does three things at once. Dr. David Bainbridge, author of Teenagers: A Natural History has said “The sheer potential of teenagers is demonstrated by the way they exploit new technologies at a speed which frightens adults.”

With half of parents acknowledging that their teenage children are found doing three things at once, why have teenagers become the most advanced at multi-tasking?
