The Olympics are now 900 days away and will create thousands of jobs within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector, which already provide 2 million jobs and is set to grow by 10% by 2017.

According to the latest report, employers within this industry are suffering a skills gap with 19% of all sector vacancies proving hard to fill due to a shortage of skilled applicants. 53% of sector businesses believe that qualifications are becoming more important in helping them choose between job applicants.

Unemployment currently stands at 2.49 million and could rise to 2.8 million this year. Young people are currently the group worst hit by unemployment and make up the majority of the hospitality workforce.
