New research this Green Office Week (w/c 26th April) reveals that one in three British workers admit they have a lazy attitude when it comes to looking after the environment when at work. 43% of office workers believe it is important for UK companies to be environmentally responsible, despite this 82% feel they are more environmentally friendly at home than at work.

With more than one light left on unnecessarily in 68% of workplaces, new research has found British businesses waste over £160 million each year just by leaving the office lights on.

Over half (56%) of office workers admitted walking away from their desk at the end of the day and seeing more than one computer on. This laid back attitude goes some way to explaining the 47% who said that they are less conscious of reducing power consumption at work as they aren’t the ones footing the bill.

. Introduction:

New research this Green Office Week (w/c 26th April) reveals environmental apathy in the British workplace. Despite spending the majority of our time at work, it seems we abandon our eco-conscience as we enter the office. 36% of workers admitted that there is nothing stopping them from being environmentally responsible at work, they just don’t bother. With one third of all UK office workers not aware of any recycling facilities in their office, a lack of green initiatives in the workplace is leading to ecological laziness.

So why is the British workforce leaving their eco-conscience at home?

Joining us in the studio is Alistair McGowan, celebrity impressionist and a keen green campaigner and Nicky Amos, leading business advisor on all aspects of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
