Almost a quarter of the population feel they have a ‘special connection’ with their cat and 15% of single female cat owners treat their pet as a baby replacement! However, with 37% of the cat population regularly exploring outside the boundaries of the back garden for three days or more, how much do we really know about what our feline friends get up to on their outdoor adventures?

Most parents would be in distraught if their child didn’t return home for days at a time yet the secret lives of our cats has, up until now, remained an accepted mystery. However, an innovative new report using GPS tracking and miniature ‘Cat-Cams’ has revealed all about the fascinating every daily past times, interactions and distance travelled of our beloved pets.

Some of their (perhaps less desirable) behaviors have been laid bare with every cat having visited next door’s garden on a regular basis to do their business and 50% regularly entering their neighbours cat flap to steal food. However the fact that 90% of cats avoided busy roads altogether may provide some solace for the 7% of owners who claim they worry more about the whereabouts of their cat than their partner!
