More on why radio makes us happy!

Emma: Radio makes me happy as it makes me feel like I’m not alone in the mornings. If the breakfast team that I’m listening too are in a good mood, that rubs off on me and sets me up for the day ahead I always end up chuckling to myself so it feels like I’m getting ready with friends. Radio makes me feel like I am a part of something as it reaches out to individuals rather than mass audiences.
I would always prefer to listen to a good bit of radio than watch the TV. Radio obviously doesn’t have the aid of sight therefore nothing can be reaped from peoples from visual expressions therefore is a much more powerful and clever medium as a lot is left up to the imagination.
As a big music fan I love being able to tune into any radio station around the world (on my world radio) and listen to any genre of music that I feel like- the variety of shows is so vast I could never get bored!
Gina: Why does Radio make me happy?...Now that is a question!... The radio makes me happy for many, many, many reasons; the diversity of music ready at my finger tips, the feeling of being apart of something bigger... something that thousands of people are listening too at the same point in time in different places around the country (maybe even the world!) and of course the educational values of it all. I don’t think I’ve ever put on the radio and not heard something I didn’t know or a band I had never even heard of!
For me the medium of radio is a traditional institution (especially in Britain) that signifies our national identity. From wartime reports, the shipping forecast, the birth of BBC, the archers, pirate radio, the explosion of rock’n’roll, Prime Ministers Speeches and now the massive amounts of new stations that cater for every mood, moment, religion, background, colour, social class, comedic taste, political leanings and music choice that you desire. So yes! Why does the radio make me happy?....Because it’s awesome.
